Visiting Creswick Woollen Mills/Farm: What You Need to KnowUpdated 25 days ago

If you’re planning a visit to Creswick Woollen Mills, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure you make the most of your experience.

Location and History

The Creswick Woollen Mills is located in the picturesque town of Creswick, about an hour and a half outside of Melbourne and only 20 minutes from Ballarat. Step back in time and experience a slice of Victorian history at the Mill, which is the last of its kind. Creswick Woollen Mills has been designing and manufacturing natural fibre textiles since 1947, remaining a family-run and owned business to this day.

Interactive Exhibit: 'A Very Fine Yarn'

A highlight of your visit is the award-winning interactive exhibition, ‘A Very Fine Yarn.’ This exhibit takes you through the rich history of the Mill and the fascinating journey of natural fibres—from their source, through the manufacturing process, and onto the shop floor. Self-guided tours of the exhibition are free and available all day, giving you the opportunity to learn more about this unique aspect of Victorian industry.

Mill Shop

After exploring the Mill, don’t forget to visit our Mill Shop. We offer a luxurious range of natural fibre apparel, accessories, and homewares—perfect as souvenirs or gifts. Discover our latest in-store arrivals and special gift ideas, with the option for gift wrapping or direct-to-door delivery to make your shopping experience seamless.

Open Hours

The Mill is open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing ample time to explore everything we have to offer.

Farm Experience

While visiting the Mill, you can also enjoy some time outdoors and meet our friendly animals.

Are we offering food?
At this time, our café is closed, so no meals are available on-site. However, we do sell bars and cans of soft drinks in the shop for your convenience. Feel free to bring your own food for your visit if you plan to stay for an extended period.

Meet the Animals
From 11 am to 3 pm Friday to Sunday: we invite you to meet our adorable Baby Lambs, Alpacas, and other animals on the farm. While there are no major restrictions, we kindly ask that visitors avoid entering the pens or paddocks to ensure the safety of both the animals and our guests.
